PAIN
POUR LE PROCHAIN
1999
100 x 80 cm
An old pitchfork from nothern France, a millstone for grain, and a
griansack converted into a bag for provisions symbolize aid to the
Third World. However, the Valais rye bread cut in two by an axe, whose
point is turned towards the hands ("aid"), shows that aid
is sometimes "poisoned" since it creates a power/dependancy
relationship.
